AlFarid

The AlFarid necropolis is located southeast of Hegra and is characterised by a single tomb carved into a rocky massif. The AlFarid tomb (IGN110) is an iconic example of funerary architecture at the site and stands isolated, approximately 2 km east of the southern entrance to the site. The tomb is carved into a massif that is about 23 metres high and 18 metres wide, with the access platform raised approximately 4 metres above the ground. The entire height of the massif was used for the development of the facade. The surrounding conditions show signs of erosion and wear, with altered surfaces and visible cracks.
