AlMahjar

The AlMahjar necropolis is located northeast of the Hegra site, near the AlBanat and Ithlib massifs. This funerary complex is characterised by four rocky massifs hosting twelve monumental tombs, numbered from IGN1 to IGN14. The tombs are distributed across three distinct sectors, offering a unique insight into Nabataean funerary practices and architectural techniques. The surrounding conditions show signs of erosion and surface alterations, with visibly worn surfaces and evident cracks. The variety of structures significantly contributes to the site’s cultural heritage.
