The Tomb of Lihyan, Son of Kuza

The necropolis located southeast of Hegra is characterised by a single monumental tomb carved into a rocky massif. The Tomb of Lihyan, Son of Kuza (IGN 110), is an iconic example of funerary architecture at the site and stands isolated, approximately 2 km east of the southern entrance to the archaeological area. The tomb is carved into a massif about 23 metres high and 18 metres wide, with the access platform raised approximately 4 metres above ground level. The entire height of the rock formation was used for the development of the façade. The surrounding surfaces show visible signs of erosion and weathering, including altered stone textures and cracking.
