Niche IGN6.1 is carved approximately halfway up the western slope of a small massif in sector II of the AlMahjar necropolis, facing southwest. The sandstone in this area is not homogeneous and is crossed by numerous lighter sedimentation layers. Above the niche, about 1 meter away, a band of about 50-60 cm height is heavily scaled and disintegrated. The remaining part of the wall above this fragile area is compact but shows a very dense and widespread phenomenon of alveolization along with dark discoloration. The opening of the niche is rectangular with irregular sides, particularly eroded at the bottom. The indicative dimensions are 1.30 meters in height, decreasing downward as one moves inward, 1 meter in width, and 1 meter in depth.

The back wall of the niche is slightly trapezoidal with a shorter upper side, while the other walls are relatively regular. The state of conservation is poor, with exfoliation and disintegration visible on the ceiling and walls. There is a crack along the perimeter of a hole in the back wall, and salt efflorescence is visible in the lower parts. A light layer of sand and dust has accumulated on the floor.
